O&M GMES FTS vs INSPIRE
Summary
“It is recommended to adopt O&M-based information models and services for GMES Fast Track Services in concert with INSPIRE.”
Classification
| Category | Data harmonisation and semantic interoperability |
|---|---|
| Identifier | REC-OM-004 |
| Type of recommended activity |
|
| Organisations addressed | GMES Fast-Track Service projects and their EC Project Officers |
Additional information
| Context | See below |
|---|---|
| Rationale | Little interoperability will be possible with GMES unless the FTS projects themselves take ultimate responsibility for this. In the case of O&M, they could adopt conformant information models following parallel developments in INSPIRE and the In-Situ Observations component. |
| Dependencies | The technical approaches taken by the FTS projects will depend to a great degree on internal decisions taken by the projects themselves. Interaction at project-level by GIGAS partners may enable collaborative partnerships and progress towards the goal of this recommendation. EC Project Officers could also have a role to play in encouraging standards-based interoperable approaches to FTS information architectures and services |
