Additional information
| Context | Interoperability between GEOSS, INSPIRE and GMES will be dependent upon reaching common understanding of the information models and achieve semantic interoperability. |
|---|---|
| Rationale | All three initiatives have a different approach to the semantics of data. It will be important to understand how the different concepts relate to each other in order to achieve cross-initiative interoperability. |
| Dependencies | Keep synchronised with other more detailed technology watch topics |
| Further background information | |
| Main discussion points | A Technology Watch Report on Data Harmonisation and Semantic Interoperability [PDF] has been created in GIGAS in order to analyse these interoperability aspects. Results can be found in the Comparative analysis report [PDF]. |
